Abstract: For many years, only CH4 has been paid attention to in the process of mine gas accident prevention and control, which
leads to the one-sidedness and limitation of gas prevention and control theory. Nitrogen injection fire extinguishing is a well-known
method of mine fire-fighting. Direct and blind injection of nitrogen under unsuitable conditions will not only cause fail in firefighting,
but also induce secondary gas explosion or aggravate the situation of explosion accidents. In view of this situation, in order
to improve the theoretical cognition of mine gas explosion prevention and control, this paper analyzed the objective function
characteristics of N element in theory, interpreted the real function of N element in mine gas accidents, and put forward that while
preventing and controlling CH4 gas in gas accidents, special attention should be paid to the role of N in gas explosion accidents.
